Crushed but not defeated
16-25 October 2026
Amid the turbulent global landscape of the 21st century, how should the contemporary Church and its believers stand firm on the foundation of their faith and respond to the call to mission?
We are deeply honoured to welcome Miika Auvinen and Illia Djadi* to Hong Kong and Taiwan from October 16 to 25, 2026.
Combining insightful analysis with a broad international missionary perspective, these two speakers will lead us to confront the deepest question of faith: How does God remain in control in a world where evil runs rampant and everything seems to be spiralling out of control?
Since the release of Open Doors’ 2023 World Watch List, the violence score for the 15 sub-Saharan countries included among the top 50 countries on the list has risen. Violence in 13 of those 15 countries is rated as “extremely high.”
Nigeria continues to be the global epicentre of deadly violence against Christians. Of the 4,849 Christians killed worldwide during the World Watch List 2026 reporting period, over 70% (3,490) were Nigerian.
Meanwhile, the families and churches left behind in the wake of this violent threat are suffering profound physical, emotional and spiritual trauma.
When darkness seems to prevail, we will, through the testimonies of persecuted believers, break through geographical barriers and the illusion of comfort, and learn from the persecuted church how to truly “follow Jesus, love Jesus, and walk with Him every day”.
*Due to administrative reasons, Brother Haruna Yahaya (pseudonym), whom we had previously announced as a speaker, is not able to attend in person to share his message. We are deeply grateful for God’s timely provision of Illia Djadi as the speaker for this meeting.
